Years ago, Metro selected Zephyr Secure to develop a drawer slide system designed specifically for one of their medical cart models. The solution proved highly successful, delivering reliable performance in demanding healthcare environments. After many years of satisfaction, Metro returned to Zephyr Secure with a new challenge: to develop a soft-closing variation of the drawer slide that could be integrated into the same cart model.
As a result,
Zephyr Secure meticulously collaborated with Metro, sharing drawer slide expertise and industry knowledge to work past the limitations of a soft closing drawer slide system applied to a non-stationary unit. Through extensive in-house product testing performed by Metro, along with the engineering expertise at Zephyr, it was determined that to successfully implement a soft closing drawer on a medical cart, it’s not the drawer slide itself that needs to be optimized, but a related component. By optimizing this element, Metro and Zephyr Secure achieved the perfect balance: a soft-close mechanism that functions smoothly while remaining easy to open.
Both drawer slide designs, original and soft-close, remain exclusive to Metro, a testament to the trust and partnership between the two companies.
